Wimbledon Community Association (WCA) is a small, local charity whose legacy dates back to 1946. In recent times its board of Trustees have overseen the development, launch, marketing and operation of Wimblecomm, a community hub website for Merton.
We are looking for new Trustees to join our small Board (3 Trustees & 1 Secretary). The Trustees are supported by 2 part-time employees/contractors and an external web designer who is retained on a 1 day/month basis.
The WCA Articles do not stipulate a maximum number of Trustees and we are keen to further develop our Trustee base. We are happy to recruit people who wish to be co-opted for a specific role, too. The existing team have various skills and good generic business experience but we are looking to supplementing that with individuals who have skills and/or experience in the following areas:
- Digital marketing
- Website technical and editorial/content development
- Website monetisation
- Social media
- Community development and engagement.
We are looking for new voluntary trustees/cooptees with the appropriate skills and/or experience, time and passion to contribute towards their local community. The trustees have developed a strong team culture and generally meet at least quarterly in Wimbledon or via Zoom. Additional time spent by Trustees and Volunteers is flexible and we would welcome your contribution to a mixture of activities between formal Board meetings.
If you have skills in any of these areas, live, work or socialise in Wimbledon, the wider borough of Merton or neighbouring areas and have an interest in the local community we would be pleased to hear from you. You are welcome to get in touch even if you do not yet have extensive experience in the above areas. This is an excellent opportunity to gain exposure and hands-on experience for graduates as well as experienced individuals who would like to give something back to the community.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a small and dynamic team who are passionate about connecting people with places and their passions. In addition to providing strategic input and helping shape the future of Wimblecomm, the Online Community Hub for Merton, Trustees are welcome to get involved in a number of projects and activities if they wish to do so.
