At its Annual General Meeting on 14th July, Merton Chamber of Commerce celebrated a year of firsts as well as unveiling its new look logo in front of an audience of 70 local businesses.
In her address Diana Sterck, Chief Executive, said that it had been an amazing year for the Chamber with the introduction of many new initiatives, all aiming to support the business community and a business friendly borough.
New activity included the running of The Generator Business Centre in Mitcham, with 18 office suites and 5 light industrial units, as well as working with 1500 businesses through the Merton Means Business service, both being run on behalf of Merton Council. The Chamber’s finance advisers had helped raise over £250,000 for 4 businesses and the team of greening advisers had helped over 300 businesses save an average of £2000 per annum by adopting green practices. During the year, the Chamber had also grown their on-line communications and introduced Facebook, Twitter and Linked In. They had also continued their work in Wimbledon Town Centre, organising continental markets, promotions on the Piazza, the annual Winter Wonderland parade and development of a Business Improvement District for the town, now known as “Love Wimbledon”.
Diana concluded her presentation by unveiling a new look logo for the Chamber of Commerce. She said “Our new logo represents our ambition to be a modern and approachable business, and one that is in business to support and connect business, particularly recognising the growth in digital and social media”. She also advised the audience that the southlondon.biz brand would be replaced by MCC Business Solutions, creating a family of brands for the organisation.
