Merton Volunteers gathered together at the Vestry Hall on Thursday 28th February in recognition of the amount of voluntary work they had done in Merton.
The volunteers had been invitated by MVSC, Merton Council and ValueYou, to receive a ValueYou Certificate and Reward Card as a special thank you for giving over 100 hours of their time to volunteering in the borough. Most of the volunteers attending had been volunteering for many years and had clocked up well over 100 hours!
Certificates were presented by Cllr Mary Curtin, the Mayor of Merton. Reward cards were presented by Georgie Cella of ValueYou, who also talked to volunteers about the ValueYou reward card and the many discounts to be had, along with vouchers to the many local and national businesses taking part in the scheme. All in all, this was a lovely afternoon and a chance for volunteers to meet with other volunteers and celebrate the amazing value that volunteers have to offer.
Several organisations including Age UK, Merton Home Tutoring Service, Safer Neighbourhood Watch, Avanti Club, Merton CIL, Team Merton, Workshop 305, Mitcham & Morden Air Training Corps, Merton Heritage and Studies, and Merton and Morden Guild also attended along with their volunteers. Due to the overwhelming amount of nominations, this first and much appreciated presentation will be one of several more to come. This will ensure all those nominated by Merton organisations have an opportunity to be presented with their certificate and Reward Card in person.
