Organisational changes at MVSC

Merton Voluntary Service Council (MVSC) has not been immune to the funding cuts and challenges faced by many voluntary and community sector organisations over the past few years.

As a result of reduced resources, we have recently gone through an organisational review to ensure that we continue to be fit for purpose and go forward in a more sustainable position while remaining true to our vision and mission:

 “A thriving Merton community where people’s lives are enriched by voluntary and community action

To inspire and develop an excellent voluntary and community sector in Merton.”

Our review was underpinned by a continued commitment to providing essential organisational development and volunteering services in Merton. We will still prioritise information and communication, governance, quality assurance, partnerships and fundraising support services. Volunteer brokerage, management and good practice also remain key strategic priorities for MVSC.

MVSC will also continue to support networking through INVOLVE and thematic forums. These will foster the sector’s voice, representation and influence in its engagement with the Local Authority, Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and other Merton Partnership bodies.

We are sad to say farewell to valued members of staff, some with long-standing service, all of whom have served MVSC, the previous Volunteer Centre and the wider voluntary sector with dedication, excellence and professionalism. Amy Szott (Volunteer Coordinator Youth) and Sophie Matthews (Communications & Marketing Officer) left at the end of March. Sarah Hannigan (Head of Volunteering) and Angela De Leon (Administration Officer) are leaving at the end of April. A big ‘Thank you’ to all of them! We owe them a huge debt of gratitude and wish them the best for the future.

MVSC is still open for business and serving the voluntary and community sector while we recruit to new positions in the organisation and embed the operational changes. We ask for your patience during this period of transition.
