Residents eager to help refugees held an emergency meeting on Thursday 10th September in Morden Baptist Church.
The aim of the meeting was to find out what Merton residents, the Council, local organisations and businesses are already doing or will do to help refugees and to build on the friendly support network already set up by concerned residents in the Borough.
Please see notes of the meeting attached below.
MVSC attended the meeting and will continue to share information about future meetings and what residents are doing or requesting. We are now putting a call out to voluntary, community faith and social enterprise organisations to tell us what they are already doing or what support they are willing to offer to refugees - please email firstname.lastname@example.org
MVSC has been contacted by generous residents offering to volunteer as befrienders/mentors/teachers. We will be coordinating volunteer support so if you would like to offer your time to refugees please contact Sarah Hannigan, Head of Volunteering on 020 8685 1771 or email@example.com
