Family Support Co-ordinator

Home-Start Merton is a voluntary organisation in which parent volunteers offer regular support, friendship and practical help to families with at least one child under the age of eight, in their own homes, helping to prevent family crisis and breakdown, whilst emphasising the pleasures of family life.

We are looking for a new Family Support Co-ordinator to join our team and build on our existing work in Merton to deliver a new service for parents along with our existing service of supporting families with a child under 5 years old.

You will establish and deliver the new Bumps to Babies, Perinatal mental ill health support service for parents who are pregnant and up until the child’s first birthday.

The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues from Springfield Hospital, St Georges and St Helier Hospitals, Health Visitors, and with a wide range of parents with children aged 0-1. You will be responsible for recruiting, training and managing a team of volunteers and for promoting parent infant mental health across the borough. An understanding of the risks of developing poor mental health in the 0-1 period, known as part of the 1001 critical days, is essential, as is a flexible approach to work and ability to travel.

To contribute, as part of the staff team, to the effective day to day operation of the scheme in accordance with the Home-Start Governing documents, Standards and Methods of Practice, Home-Start Agreement and Quality Assurance Standards.
