MertonVision support and empower people with a visual impairment, from their diagnosis of permanent sight loss through the entire rehabilitative process, in whatever form is appropriate for them. This includes children, adults, people with dual sensory loss and people with additional difficulties. Jigsaw4u, a local children’s charity based in Mitcham, is looking for volunteers to befriend and assist vulnerable 10 or 11 year olds in Year 6. They will offer regular individual support to a child, guiding them through their transition to secondary school. Abundance is a fruit picking and sharing project in Wimbledon and nearby. They rely entirely on volunteers - people offering excess fruit from their gardens, picking the fruit and turning it into something nice to eat. The Wimbledon Guild Village Fair is appealing for volunteers to help make the event a huge success on 18th June 2016. Every year the Guild relies on more than 100 volunteers to help with the fair, which is on June 18 this year. The Multiple Sclerosis Society, Merton Branch, supports people with MS and their families grants for equipment, home adaptations, and respite care, and sessions with a Physiotherapist. They have been authorised by the Metropolitan Police to take up a street collection on Saturday 28th May.
