Help local video production company, Filmanthropy, to make a film all about what it looks and feels like to live in Merton at this strange time. As they're not allowed to go out and film, they're asking all of Merton's residents to become their film crew. A mobile COVID-19 testing site will be set up in the car park at Morden Park on Sunday 3rd and Monday 4th May. Since lockdown was announced, our team of Social Prescribers have been supporting people from home by providing telephone consultations, welfare checks, emotional support and linking patients with existing support within the community. The Social Prescribing team is also closely linked to the COVID-19 Community Response Hub - since Wednesday 8th April we have helped 136 isolated households and those at risk from COVID-19 to access prescriptions and medication. We are delighted to announce that Merton residents raised over £6000 to go towards the Merton Giving Coronavirus Fund. The challenge, which can be any activity related to the numbers 26, has seen residents row, run, cycle and even shave their hair in a tremendous effort to raise money. Merton Voluntary Service Council (MVSC) is working with the voluntary sector in the borough to mobilise a volunteer taskforce to help isolated households and those at risk from COVID-19. The temporary parking restrictions around Wimbledon Common were introduced in advance of the Easter weekend to discourage unnecessary journeys after concerns were raised with us by Simon Lee, the Chief Executive of Wimbledon Common Conservators.  Concerns were due to a high number of people gathering at the common over the weekend of the 4 and 5 April, which compromised social distancing and required the police to be called out.
