We launched the Merton Giving Coronavirus Fund, providing financial support to organisations working locally that are either delivering COVID-19 front line services or whose organisation’s ability to operate has been impacted by the measures put in place to stem the COVID-19 pandemic. WCGL is a grants programme funded by Transport for London, in partnership with The London Marathon Charitable Trust and administered by Groundwork London. The AVANTI Mental Well-Being CIC has been providing services and support for individuals with mental health needs since 2018 This week, they announced the launch of a new program for adult residents in Merton experiencing mental health difficulties or for those that feel isolated. Volunteering during lockdown has become somewhat of the ‘norm’ for people in Merton. For Harry, this has been the ‘norm’ for over 47 years. Harry was given the opportunity to swim when he joined the RAF in 1954 - which is when his passion and love for swimming began.
