As we enter this phase of lockdown, we continue our work with the voluntary sector to help isolated households and those at risk from COVID-19. We have been delighted with the continued response from people willing to give their time to help others. For National Volunteers’ Week we wanted to shout out to the Dons Local Action Group. When the Coronavirus pandemic hit Merton, their mission simple - help vulnerable residence get access to food.  The initiative hit new hights recently as they have now delivered over 3000 food packages in Merton alone. Help local video production company, Filmanthropy, to make a film all about what it looks and feels like to live in Merton during this challenging time. As they're not allowed to go out and film, they're asking all of Merton's residents to become their film crew. MVSC was delighted to see so many organisations in Merton taking part in Mental Health Awareness Week.  Thank you to everyone that got involved this year. GPs in South West London have launched a new campaign to persuade the public to seek the urgent care and treatment they need. The plea comes alongside new findings by NHS England that four in ten people are too concerned about being a burden on the NHS to seek help from their GP. Eid Al-Fitr, the celebration at the end of Ramadan, is due to be marked by Muslims across the world on the 24th May, subject to the sighting of the new moon.
