Charities are being invited to apply to take part in this year’s Big Give Christmas Challenge, which helps to raise millions of pounds for good causes each year. The annual match-funding event, which was first held in 2008, raised £15.6m for almost 600 UK good causes last year.  After registering, which must be done by 5pm on 3 July, charities will have until 28 August to raise pledges from major supporters that will form the basis of each organisation’s match-fund pot. Cyber experts have launched measures to protect the UK from online harm as the country continues to rely more on technology while staying at home to protect the NHS and save lives. As things stand, charity shops in Merton can expect to open in June. It comes as the government announced plans to allow non-essential shops to open from 15 June 2020, including charity shops, which have been closed since March.
