We are delighted to bring you the Footie Fit Chelsea Challenge orgainsed by The Wimbledon Guild. Adapted for older people, to get ‘footie fit’ with light exercises both with and without a football - it's a great way to reduce social isolation and loneliness and enable older people to be active and healthy. Earlier this year, Merton Council launched a new hate crime advice surgery in partnership with charity Tell MAMA (Measuring Anti-Muslim Attacks). Merton was the first borough in south London to work in conjunction with Tell Mama to run these sessions. Aimed at raising awareness and supporting victims of hate crime – the surgeries are a safe space for discussing hate crime and reporting anonymously.  From January 2020, the new times for these meetings are 12pm – 1pm. Merton has declared the general election results for the two constituencies in the borough. Siobhan McDonagh was elected MP for the Mitcham and Morden constituency for the Labour party. Stephen Hammond, representing the Conservative Party, was elected MP for the Wimbledon constituency. The Mitcham and Morden result was announced at 3am and the Wimbledon result was declared 45 minutes later. These show Siobhan McDonagh received 61% of the total 45,845 votes. On Wednesday 18th December 2019, Playfinder’s 2019 Outstanding Sports Facility of the Year award was given to Tooting and Mitcham Community Sports Club.  Tooting and Mitcham is an independently funded ‘not for profit’ facility which provides sport, health, education and well-being facilities.
