MVSC's current projects

Healthwatch Merton
Merton Council awarded the Healthwatch Merton contract to MVSC. Healthwatch Merton is here to give children, young people and adults a powerful voice – making sure their views and experiences are heard by those who run, plan and regulate health and social care services.
Merton Befriending Service
Merton Befriending Service, funded by Public Health, is a new partnership of community organisations working to ensure the delivery of high quality befriending services for isolated older people. The partnership is between MVSC, Age UK Merton, The Wimbledon Guild, Positive Network and Carers Support Merton.
Merton Connected
Merton Connected contains news and information of interest to voluntary, community and faith sectors in Merton, including information about funding, meetings, jobs and good governance. It offers all groups in the borough the opportunity to publicise their activities.

Merton Social Prescribing Service
Merton’s Social Prescribing Service is a project of Merton Voluntary Service Council working in partnership with the Merton Clinical Commissioning Group, Merton Council, Merton GP Practices and the voluntary and community sector. The service supports people aged 18 and over in identifying what they think are their main needs and goals and works up a plan to meet these.

Merton Libraries
The Home Visits Library Service is a delivery service for Merton’s residents who cannot get to their local library and have no one to go for them. Volunteers deliver books/audio books once a month and we also have a postal service. This service is funded by Merton Libraries & Heritage Service and facilitated by volunteers.
Merton Means Business
The combined forces of Merton Chamber of Commerce and Merton Voluntary Service Council are driving the project with a Business Engagement Manager who is mapping business engagement activity across the borough.

Team London
Team London is the Mayor’s volunteering programme for London. It makes it quick and easy for Londoners to give their time, find volunteering opportunities and do great things for their city.

Team Merton
Team Merton enables Merton residents to give their time and support events and activities in the community, including the public fireworks displays, Light up Merton and the Ride London cycle race.

A partnership between MVSC, ValueYou and LBM, rewarding 100 hours of volunteering in the community with a discount card that can be used in local participating businesses.

Youth Approved Volunteering Award (YAVA)
The Merton YAVA project, funded as a pilot in 2015/16 by Circle Housing Merton Priory, has received funding from the Big Lottery Fund, Awards for All to roll it out across the borough in 2017/18. The award aims to recognise and reward organisations in Merton for their great work with young volunteers. Designed and delivered entirely by young people, the project aims to give organisations a stamp of approval, helping their peers decide where to volunteer with a visible logo and an “approved by young people, for young people” approach.
