Activities Volunteers

Can you spare two hours a week to have some fun and make a real difference to the lives of people with learning disabilities? If yes, then The Squad is the place for you! We hold two Thursday evening clubs in Wimbledon, one for ages 14-25 and another for 25+, where our friendly members get the chance to build relationships, learn new skills, and grow their confidence.

No two evenings are same, with activities ranging from cooking curries and playing cricket, to visiting the zoo and going to the circus. We even enjoy occasional day trips and residential weekends! You’ll be part of an established team of volunteers and supported by our highly motivated club leaders. Whether you’d like to build skills for your CV, meet new people, or give something back to your community, The Squad will provide a hugely rewarding experience. No experience is required; more important is your caring attitude and willingness to get involved.

COVID-19 note: The Squad has completed COVID risk assessments of all members and activities. All volunteers are provided with PPE and required to maintain high standards of hygiene and social distancing as per government guidelines. All activities are conducted within JIYC, external visits are currently suspended.
