Privacy Policy

This privacy statement applies specifically to the MVSC community web portal - Merton Conne cted (referred to as ‘the web portal’ throughout this document). The system contains public areas which may be viewed from any Internet conne cted PC. Other areas are restri cted to access by MVSC. It's important to MVSC that its users retain their privacy when they take advantage of all that MVSC and its services have to offer.

Your privacy is important to us. We therefore operate on the basis of a number of principles:

Principle 1

The information you give us in registering your membership of the web portal will be stored securely. This web-site is hosted by a third party who is under an obligation to hold the information securely and confidentially in compliance with the Data Prote ction A ct 1998 and is prohibited from making use of the information itself. If any of the information you have given us changes at any time, you can dire ctly change this record yourself by clicking the 'my profile' button in the top right box on your page, after you are logged in. You can set your own preferences for information receipt and can change these at any time. Thus for example, should you choose not to ‘opt-in’ for news of MVSC forums, no specific communications on that subje ct will be sent to you.

Principle 2

MVSC will use this information to communicate with you by e-mail, or by text message, to improve our communications and to personalise our service to you. For example we may provide you with newsletters, a ctivity information, advice, recommendations, funding or information on services that we think will interest you, according to the preferences you have determined. We will also use the information for our own internal administration and for statistical analysis.

Principle 3

We will share information about groups with other voluntary and charitable organisations, public se ctor bodies and other identified key partners unless you tell us not too. We will not share information regarding individuals who register with the site. We will also share information in order to comply with our legal obligations, to enforce the terms and conditions of use of our web-site or to prote ct and defend the rights and interests or property of MVSC, or other members. We will only share information that we deem is appropriate and if we feel it is in your interests to do so.

Principle 4

MVSC will not store your personal information or transfer your personal data to countries outside the

United Kingdom.

Principle 5

As required by Data Prote ction legislation, MVSC has notified the Data Prote ction Commissioner of the types of information we hold, the purposes for which we hold it and the third parties to whom we may disclose it.

We are registered to hold, and share, information regarding your details for the following purposes:

(4) Realising the obje ctives of a Charitable Organisation or Voluntary Body– recipients are yourselves; healthcare, social and welfare advisers; business associates, consultants and other professional advisors; employees and agents of the data controller; suppliers, providers of goods or services; persons making an enquiry or complaint; voluntary and charitable organizations; members including shareholders; customers and clients of the data controller for goods and services.

You may choose to opt out of making any information public at any time by notifying the administrator.
